So Much For Sleep
Well a funny thing happened last night. Our room's air conditioner was making some weird water running noises, even when the thermostat was turned to off. It was pretty loud. Neither one of us could sleep, so we called the hotel front desk and they sent up a maintenance guru. The verdict? The water cooling pipe was making the noise and they couldn't turn it off since it was needed for the entire building’s air conditioning. Since our room was the top floor of the Ocean Tower and all rooms have the water cooling pipe above us, they could do nothing else but move us to a different room. They "upgraded" us to a city view and since it's on the second floor, it's not much of a city view, but a better view than what we had. So 2am in the morning we had to pack all our stuff up and move. So much for getting up early in the morning!
After sleeping in, we hit up Waikiki Beach with some oversize beach towels and sunglasses. Man was it crowded and it wasn't even noon yet! We finally found a small spot on the sand to lie out on and catch some rays. For an hour or so we listened to the drone of conversation and kid's play. We decided to chillax in the hotel room for a bit after that and headed out for some lunch. In the lobby, we got bombarded by some time share sales people and decided to torture ourselves with a 2 hour seminar in the morning so we could get $100 food coupon for a couple restaurants. Plus we'll get a free breakfast. No worries...as long as we don't get sucked in!
Later tonight, we walked all the way to the Ala Moana Mall to eat. After hitting up the California Pizza Kitchen for some satisfying Sicilian pizza and Mediterranean salad, we tried to do a little shopping but were denied. Since it's Sunday, the mall shops close early! Dooh! Oh well, time to walk all the way back on full stomachs...lol.
Later we decided to have a drink and hit up the Shorebird Restaurant & Beach Bar in our hotel. We both tried their Mai Tais, and we were thoroughly unimpressed. Plus they were $8 a pop! To help us erase this horrible memory we had a barefoot walk along the deserted beach. The sand feels so good between the toes. Now that was relaxing! Tomorrow is New Year's Eve and we have dinner reservations at PF Chang's. After that it'll be a night full of fireworks and festivities...
