Tired...but Happy to be in Paradise
Aloha!...we have arrived in Hawaii at last. After flying an early morning flight from Anchorage, we landed safely at the Honolulu Airport. The plane had to be de-iced before take off so we were 30 minutes late. Sleeping (err...trying to sleep) on an airplane has never been my favorite pastime since I'm over 6 feet tall and flying coach puts me in the fetal position. After getting off our plane, we were a little out of it and decided to walk to the inter-island terminal to retrieve our luggage instead of waiting with the crowd to catch the terminal shuttle. The walk would have not been terrible if we hadn't walked in the wrong direction! In our defense, the signs are poorly labeled at the airport, so it's their fault...lol. Plus we needed to work those kinks out of our legs from our 6 hour flight.
After catching a Roberts Hawaii shuttle bus and arriving at our hotel...2 hours had gone by. Needless to say, both Olya and I felt relaxed without much a care in the world. Work? What's that? Responsibility? Who cares! We're on vacation... Anyhow, we arrived at Outrigger Reef on the Beach. This hotel is still under its multi-million dollar renovation and we snagged a room that had gone through the construction process. I must say that besides the big hotel next door blocking our view, this is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Maybe I like it because everything is new and clean...plus it's right on Waikiki Beach.
After checking in to our hotel early, Olya and I spent the rest of the day casually wandering the streets of Waikiki, window shopping, eating, power napping, and spending some time at the beach and the hotel pool. After eating dinner at The Cheesecake Factory, it's time to retire early to catch up on some much needed beauty sleep...
