There's nothing like watching movies to motivate a person to think about far away places. I know whenever I watch a movie that's shot in a different state or country, I always imagine what it would be like to visit that place or live at that location. That's especially true if the cinemaphotography provides great scenic shots and immerses the viewer into how the place really looks.

A few days ago I watched 50 First Dates, which is a hilarious Adam Sandler flick released the day before Valentine's Day in 2004. I have never been a big fan of sappy romantic comedies, but this movie holds a spot somewhere in my heart. Not only being a great "feel good" movie, I think 50 First Dates really hits the mark when showing how love can turn a male chauvinist into an endearing person. The end of the movie is moving to almost tears, but not in a sad way. I like the song in particular at the end performed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. The name of the song is Over the Rainbow. It's not included on the soundtrack and a lot of other great songs aren't on it either. So the moral of the story is buy the movie and not the soundtrack...lol.

So back to my first point about movies taking the viewer to a different place. I thought 50 First Dates did a good job of making me want to visit Hawaii again. Though not all the scenes were shot in Hawaii, I felt as a viewer that all the characters were playing out their lives on Hawaii's tropical shores. You can check out more about this film here. Until next week, Aloha!
